125 hotels, facilities shut down for violating safety regulations in Cappadocia

Authorities in Cappadocia have shut down 125 hotels and facilities found to be operating without proper licenses or adequate safety measures.
The closures follow an increase in inspections across the country after the tragic fire at a hotel in Bolu’s Kartalkaya ski resort, which claimed the lives of 78 people.
According to official reports, 93 unregistered businesses were ordered to cease operations during the inspections. Additionally, the Provincial Directorate of Culture and Tourism conducted on-site inspections at 58 accommodation facilities, resulting in the revocation of 32 operating licenses.

Administrative penalties for accommodation facilities
Authorities stated that ongoing monitoring is in place for the remaining 26 facilities, and legal action will be taken against those failing to obtain the necessary permits within the designated timeframe.
Meanwhile, in 2024, inspections targeting establishments that failed to meet renovation requirements led to administrative penalties for 19 accommodation facilities in Nevsehir’s city center and surrounding districts. In 2025, similar inspections were conducted at 323 facilities, with 13 receiving administrative penalties for non-compliance.
