An avalanche on Palandoken Mountain in the Turkish city of Erzurum was captured on the helmet camera of an Iranian skier skiing in a restricted area off the designated slopes.

The footage shows the skier descending the mountain with three others, navigating the restricted area while slaloming and singing. Moments later, warnings from above can be heard just before a massive avalanche sweeps the skier away.

Despite being dragged by the snow, the skier survived and responded in English to calls from a nearby ski lift, saying, “I’m fine,” followed by shouting “Alhamdulillah” as the snow settled.

The avalanche occurred Saturday in a restricted area of Palandoken Ski Resort in Türkiye‘s Erzurum. No injuries or fatalities have been reported, though a search operation is underway as a precaution.

A similar incident occurred on Dec. 21, 2024, during a high-altitude training camp for the Turkish National Judo Team in the Sultan Sekisi area of Mount Palandoken. That avalanche claimed the life of one athlete and injured three others.
