A 5.2 magnitude earthquake struck near the city of Zadar in central Croatia on Tuesday.
According to the European Mediterranean Seismological Center (EMSC), the tremor affected Zadar and surrounding cities. The earthquake was also felt in neighboring Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The EMSC confirmed an aftershock followed the initial earthquake, though no reports of damage or casualties have been reported.
National media outlets reported that residents in Croatia evacuated their homes due to the tremor, which lasted for a long time. Croatian media also reported no immediate damages or casualties, but the tremor caused panic among locals in the popular tourist area.
In 2020, Croatia was struck by a deadly earthquake that killed seven people, displaced hundreds, and caused significant material damage.
