Due to intense snowfall, schools in the districts of Istanbul, including Basaksehir, Esenyurt, Sultangazi, Beykoz, Avcilar, and Arnavutkoy, have been closed on Tuesday.
In Istanbul, schools have been suspended in the districts of Arnavutkoy, Esenyurt, Avcilar, and Basaksehir because of adverse weather and heavy snowfall.
The snow, which began early in the morning on the European side of the city, became more intense in the higher parts of the city. It especially impacted areas such as Beylikduzu, Silivri, Buyukcekmece, and Arnavutkoy during the morning hours.

The snowfall affecting the northern districts of Istanbul is not impacting the southern and central districts of the city. Therefore, there is no interruption to education across the entire city.
The District Public Health Boards have been authorized to make decisions regarding the suspension of education in schools located in districts affected by the snowfall. In this context, education has been suspended for one day (Tuesday, February 11, 2025) in the districts of Basaksehir, Esenyurt, Sultangazi, Beykoz, Avcilar, and Arnavutkoy, based on the decision of the District Public Health Board.

Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) has advised citizens not to use personal vehicles unless absolutely necessary because of the challenging road conditions.
In addition, there have been changes to air travel because of the heavy snowfall. It was reported that 5% of flights planned for today at Sabiha Gokcen Airport have been canceled, and 10% of flights scheduled for tomorrow have also been canceled.
