An exhibition featuring 19 photographs by the renowned Turkish photojournalist Ara Guler, known as the “Eye of Istanbul,” has opened in Zagreb, Croatia.
The collection captures compelling moments from everyday life, reflecting Guler’s unique perspective on human nature.

Celebrating a master of photography
The exhibition, organized in collaboration with Türkiye’s Embassy in Zagreb, the Ara Guler Museum, and Dogus Group, is being held at Kranjcar Gallery. The opening ceremony was attended by Türkiye’s Ambassador to Croatia, Hayriye Nurdan Erpulat Altuntas, former Croatian President Ivo Josipovic, as well as diplomats, local officials, and art enthusiasts.
During her speech, Ambassador Altuntas emphasized that Guler always saw himself as a photojournalist, yet his works clearly exhibit a strong artistic essence.

A glimpse into Ara Guler’s legacy
Yasemin Ozuye, Sales and Business Development Manager at the Ara Guler Museum expressed her delight in showcasing Guler’s work in Zagreb. She noted that while the exhibition presents only a small fraction of his legacy, the images bear his signature style and serve as a visual testament to Türkiye’s rich cultural landscape.
In addition to the photographs, visitors can also enjoy a documentary on Ara Guler’s life and artistic journey, offering deeper insight into his enduring impact on the world of photography.
The exhibition will be open to the public until Feb. 15.
