Pizza orders increase by 12% in Türkiye: Yemeksepeti

On February 9, celebrating World Pizza Day, online food ordering platform Yemeksepeti shared pizza its 2024 pizza data. Pizza orders in Türkiye increased by 12% compared to 2023.

The data released by Yemeksepeti not only highlights the changes in pizza lovers’ preferences and interesting trends but also provides important insights into pizza consumption habits in Türkiye.

Number of die-hard pizza lovers is increasing: In 2024, 17% of Yemeksepeti users placed an average of 5 or more pizza orders per month.

One user set an impressive record by placing a total of 1,602 pizza orders throughout the year. On a monthly basis, one user reached the top by ordering 321 pizzas.

Chicken and sausage pizzas on the rise: Among pizza types, chicken pizza showed the most notable increase. In 2024, chicken pizza orders rose by 53% compared to 2023. Sausage pizza also showed a 30% increase, making it the second most popular pizza type.

Increase in evening and late-night pizza orders: The data reveals when pizza orders are most concentrated during the day. Pizza orders between 18:00 and 20:00 showed an 11% increase. Additionally, there was a significant 22% increase in pizza orders between 00:00 and 03:00.

Cities with the largest increase in pizza orders: In 2024, there were notable changes in the cities with the most significant increase in pizza orders compared to the previous year. Tunceli topped the list with an 89% increase, followed by Mus with 82%, Kars with 61%, Bilecik with 57%, and Nevsehir with 52%.

Medium-sized pizzas are the favorite, soft drinks are the classic companion: Among different pizza sizes, medium-sized pizzas are the most preferred, with 62% of users choosing them. Large-sized pizzas account for only 25%.

As for the beverages ordered with pizzas, no surprising changes were seen. 70% of users still prefer soft drinks alongside their pizza orders.

Pizza facts in Europe

In addition to the 2024 Pizza Report, Yemeksepeti’s parent company, Delivery Hero, also published the 2025 Pizza Index for Foodora which operates in six European countries.

According to the data, Pizza Margarita remains the most popular pizza both in Türkiye and across Europe. In Europe, after margarita, the most popular pizzas are those with salami and kebab toppings, while small-sized margarita pizzas made specifically for children are among the top orders.

Szeged, Hungary, is the city where pizza is most affordable in Europe, while Bergen, Norway, has the priciest pizzas.
