Greek Cyprus to host controversial $70M Zionist school amid rising Jewish migration
Greek Cyprus is set to host a controversial $70 million Zionist school in Limassol, which has sparked concerns over its implications for the region’s demographic and political landscape.
Despite opposition, the Greek Cypriot government, with approval from Israel’s Minister of Diaspora Affairs Amichai Chikli has approved the project, which aims to cater to Jewish families migrating from Israel and other countries.
Jewish migration to Greek Cyprus on the rise
According to reports from Türkiye’s daily Hurriyet, Greek Cyprus has begun actively attracting Jewish migrants, particularly from Israel and other parts of the world.
Chief Rabbi Arie Zeev Raskin highlighted a significant surge in Jewish families settling in the region, with the number of permanent Jewish households surpassing 4,000.
$70M Zionist school project underway
Israeli media outlet The Jerusalem Post has revealed that Chikli, recently secured approval from the Greek Cypriot government to establish a “Zionist school” in the coastal city of Limassol.
The school, slated to open in 2027, and currently under construction, is expected to cost $70 million and accommodate 1,500 students, prioritizing Jewish families migrating from outside Israel.
