Major fire near Istanbul’s Spice Bazaar in Eminonu
A restaurant near the historic Spice Bazaar in Istanbul‘s Eminonu district caught fire, prompting an urgent response from emergency teams on Thursday. The fire started in a four-story building, quickly spreading to neighboring structures. Thick smoke engulfed the area, raising concerns among locals and tourists.
Numerous firefighters, police, and medical teams were dispatched to the scene. Crews are working intensively to bring the fire under control. Authorities have yet to determine the cause of the blaze.
Istanbul’s Governor Davut announced that there was no casuality due to the fire:
The fire did not break out in the Spice Bazaar. It came out in a business close to the Spice Bazaar. The fire brigade intervened in 5 minutes. The fire is now under control. Cooling work is underway. The cause of the fire will also be reported by the fire department… Swift action was taken. The fire was extinguished before it spread anywhere. There are no casualties or injuries. There is no one who is wanted or lost
