Denmark’s defense minister warns of Russia’s rapid military buildup, urges NATO readiness amid heightened security threats

Denmark’s Defense Minister Troels Lund Poulsen has called for expedited military investments following new intelligence suggesting Russia is rearming faster than anticipated.

Poulsen emphasized Russia’s heightened capacity for military production and expressed concerns that Russia could potentially attack a NATO member country within three to five years.

This assessment contrasts with NATO’s previous evaluation in 2023. The shift in threat perception aligns with recent warnings from other European NATO nations.

German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius had previously cautioned in January about the need for NATO to prepare for a potential Russian attack within the next five to eight years.

While Poulsen noted that Denmark currently does not face a direct threat, he warned of the possibility of hybrid attacks aimed at destabilizing NATO member countries.
