Former Turkish national footballer and Fenerbahce legend Ogun Altiparmak has died at the age of 86.
Fenerbahce confirmed his death in an official statement, saying he left a lasting impact on Turkish football.
Who was Ogun Altiparmak and why is he important for Turkish football?
Altiparmak was a key player for Fenerbahce, playing for the club in two different periods, first from 1963 to 1968 and then again from 1969 to 1971.
During his time at the club, he played a crucial role in securing multiple trophies, including:
- 4 Turkish League titles
- 1 Turkish Cup
- 1 Presidential Cup
- 1 TSYD Cup
- 1 Ataturk Cup
- 1 Spor Toto Cup
- 1 Balkan Cup
His standout moment came in the 1970-71 season when he became the first Fenerbahce player to finish as the league’s top scorer.
Beyond Fenerbahce, he also played for Karsiyaka and earned 32 caps for the Turkish national team. After hanging up his boots, he continued his football journey as a coach, leading:

From 1986 to 1988, he returned to Fenerbahce in a management role, contributing to the club off the field.

Fenerbahce High Council Board President Sekip Mosturoglu expressed his sorrow, saying, “We have lost our brother Ogun. May he rest in peace.”
The Turkish Football Federation (TFF) also shared their condolences: “We are deeply saddened by the passing of Ogun Altiparmak. We extend our sympathies to his family, loved ones, and the entire football community.”
Funeral details for Ogun Altiparmak
A funeral service will take place today at 14:30 at Dereagzi Lefter Kucukandonyadis Facilities. Following the ceremony, his funeral will be held at Erenkoy Galip Pasa Mosque during the afternoon prayer. He will be laid to rest at Karacaahmet Cemetery.
Altiparmak’s contributions to Turkish football have been widely recognized as he was a key figure for Fenerbahce and the national team. His passing has been met with messages of respect and remembrance from across the football community. May he rest in peace.
