Türkiye is firmly opposed to any efforts to forcibly displace Palestinians from Gaza, Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan stated during a joint press conference in Doha, Qatar, on Sunday.

Speaking alongside Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani, Fidan described the idea of relocating Palestinians to other countries as a violation of international humanitarian law.

“We are completely against any project aimed at displacing Palestinians from Gaza. This is a blatant violation of human rights. We believe it is everyone’s duty to oppose such an effort,” Fidan said.

Cease-fire, humanitarian aid efforts

Fidan underscored Türkiye’s priority of ensuring the continuation of the Gaza ceasefire and commended Qatar’s role in brokering and maintaining the agreement.

“I would like to extend my gratitude to the State of Qatar, His Highness the Emir, and my dear colleague, Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman, for their incredible efforts in securing this ceasefire. Their dedication and sacrifice are beyond appreciation,” Fidan said.

He also expressed thanks to Egyptian officials and other international actors who contributed to the truce.

With the ceasefire in place, Fidan emphasized the urgent need for uninterrupted humanitarian aid delivery to Gaza and called on Israel to end its restrictive measures.

“We continue to see obstacles in delivering humanitarian aid to the region. Israel must immediately cease its obstructive stance. The international community must maintain its commitment to ensuring humanitarian access,” he stated.

Türkiye, he added, remains fully engaged in coordinating aid efforts with Egypt and other partner nations to ensure timely and effective relief distribution.

Türkiye supports two-state solution

Addressing the broader Palestinian issue, Fidan reiterated Türkiye’s support for a two-state solution as the only viable resolution to the conflict.

“We hope that the Palestinian issue will ultimately be resolved through a two-state solution. Otherwise, repeated conflicts will continue to destabilize our region,” he warned.

He also stressed that regional problems should be addressed by regional actors, affirming Türkiye’s commitment to diplomatic engagement with Palestine, Syria, and other neighboring countries.

“Moving forward, we will continue to take responsibility for regional issues and pursue solutions tailored to the region’s unique challenges. Our President remains resolute in this approach, and we believe regional nations must assert their ability to solve their own problems,” Fidan added.

Türkiye open to hosting released Palestinian prisoners

Fidan confirmed Türkiye is prepared to receive some Palestinians released from Israeli prisons as part of the cease-fire agreement.

“As part of the agreement, some freed Palestinian detainees are not allowed to remain in Palestinian territories. We encountered a similar situation during the Gilad Shalit case when we were asked to host some Palestinians, and we accepted. President Erdogan has reaffirmed that Türkiye is ready to do the same this time, in coordination with other countries,” he said.

Fidan also addressed Türkiye’s role in providing medical treatment for injured Palestinians, stating that preparations have been made to accommodate critically wounded individuals in Turkish hospitals.

“Our President has instructed the relevant institutions to take action. We have already deployed field hospitals to Gaza, and for those requiring advanced care, we are ready to transport and treat them in Türkiye. The Health Ministry has completed all necessary preparations,” he added.
