Türkiye leads NATO’s Mediterranean Shield 25-1 operation
As part of NATO’s Standing Maritime Group-2 (SNMG-2), the Mediterranean Shield 25-1 Operation is in full swing under Türkiye’s leadership.
The Turkish Ministry of National Defense (MSB) announced that the frigate TCG Salihreis is leading one of NATO’s critical missions.
Developments
- NATO Allied Maritime Command highlighted Türkiye’s contribution to the region, stating: “By working with Mediterranean partners and NATO allies, we aim to deter terrorism and ensure maritime security.”
- During the exercise, helicopter landing and fast rope training were conducted on TCG Salihreis, enhancing maritime security, strengthening cooperation, and improving NATO allies’ joint capabilities.
- The Turkish Ministry of National Defense emphasized that TCG Salihreis plays a key role in the Eastern Mediterranean through reconnaissance, surveillance, and operational readiness exercises.
