ACI Europe Director General Olivier Jankovec congratulated Cakmak and expressed his satisfaction with the development.

‘Türkiye is a global leader in aviation’

Cakmak’s election to the ACI Europe Board of Directors is expected to enhance Türkiye’s influence on Europe’s aviation policies.

In 2024, DHMI was recognized by ACI as the airport operator with the highest number of Airport Carbon Accreditation certificates globally. Across Türkiye, 50 airports have received this certification.

Transport and Infrastructure Minister Abdulkadir Uraloglu emphasized that Türkiye is at the center of 67 countries with a combined gross domestic product (GDP) of $51.2 trillion and a population of 1.5 billion within a four-hour flight radius. He added that investments in air transportation have solidified Türkiye’s position as a global player in the sector.
