Palestinian medics recovered 24 bodies from under the rubble in Gaza on Saturday, bringing the overall death toll from Israel’s military offensive on the enclave since October 2023 to 47,487, according to the Gaza Health Ministry.

In a statement, the ministry said two people succumbed to their wounds, and another was killed in the past 24 hours. It added that eight others were admitted to hospitals during the same period, raising the total number of injured to 111,588.

The ministry noted that many victims remain trapped under rubble and on roads, with rescuers unable to reach them due to ongoing challenges.

A cease-fire agreement between Hamas and Israel, which took effect on Jan. 19, temporarily halted the war that has caused widespread destruction and left Gaza in ruins.

The International Criminal Court (ICC) issued arrest warrants in November 2023 for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, accusing them of war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.

Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice (ICJ) over its military actions in the enclave.
