UFO alarm in Istanbul airspace: Pilots report unidentified traffic
For the past three days, pilots flying in Istanbul airspace have reported unidentified flying objects (UFOs) on their radar, triggering widespread concern.
According to Demiroren News Agency, pilots using Sabiha Gokcen Airport received traffic collision avoidance system (TCAS) warnings, prompting an extensive search in the region. However, authorities have been unable to determine the source of these alerts.
Air, sea, and land searches yield no results
Upon receiving the warnings, pilots immediately informed air traffic controllers, leading to coordinated search efforts in the air, at sea, and on land. While some pilots speculated that the alerts could be caused by a drone or a ship at sea, search teams found no conclusive evidence.
Radio transmissions between pilots and air traffic control revealed the urgency of the situation. One pilot reported: “On final approach at 300 feet, we received a traffic alert. It could be a drone or another aircraft. For your information.”
The control tower’s response indicated that similar warnings had been reported earlier: “Sir, we have been dealing with this for the past two and a half hours. Several flights before you also received this warning. We have reported it to coastal authorities.”
The pilot then added: “We see descending traffic 500 feet below us. It appears as an unidentified traffic on our system. It is now 5 miles ahead of us. We also received this warning on our previous flight.”
UFO panic reaches Istanbul?
The unexplained traffic warnings come amid rising UFO concerns in the United States. In December, mysterious lights believed to be linked to a swarm of drones caused public alarm in New Jersey, prompting political debates and federal investigations. Similar sightings over New York led to an official inquiry, but no conclusions were reached.
Following these events, UFO enthusiasts launched independent investigations across the U.S., and speculation grew after President-elect Donald Trump claimed the government was hiding information on the matter.
