As debates over referee decisions in the Super Lig continue, the Turkish Football Federation (TFF) has taken a significant step toward transparency.

On Wednesday, during a meeting between the Clubs Association Foundation and the Central Referee Committee, referee assignments for Week 22 will be conducted live, with club representatives in attendance.

The TFF introduced the VeTAS system for referee and assistant referee appointments starting from Week 20 of the Trendyol Super Lig. Moving forward, the system will also be used to assign fourth referees and match observers.

Referee assignments based on over 40 criteria

The Central Referee Committee has refined its algorithm for referee appointments by incorporating additional criteria into the system developed in previous years. Referee assignments are now determined based on more than 40 factors, including team rankings and performance data.

Live appointment process to promote transparency

The Clubs Association Foundation is set to meet tomorrow at the TFF headquarters in Riva for discussions with the Central Referee Committee. During the meeting, Central Referee Committee Chairman Ferhat Gundogdu will provide club representatives with detailed information on the assignment criteria and gather feedback, including potential requests for further adjustments.

As part of this initiative, referee appointments for Week 22 of the Super Lig will be finalized live using the VeTAS system. This groundbreaking move is aimed at enhancing transparency and reducing ongoing disputes related to refereeing decisions.
