Israeli forces arrested an additional 35 Palestinians in the occupied West Bank late Sunday and early Monday, as reported by organizations advocating for prisoners’ rights.
Israeli forces carried out raids in multiple areas of the occupied region, apprehending individuals in Hebron, Qalqilya, Jenin, Nablus, Ramallah and Jerusalem, according to a joint statement from the Commission of Detainees Affairs and the Palestinian Prisoners Society.
The statement further noted that Israeli soldiers took people from their residences and detained them at military checkpoints after compelling them to surrender.
As per the statement, the Israeli army has detained at least 6,985 Palestinians in the West Bank since Oct. 7.
Tensions have escalated throughout the West Bank following Israel’s initiation of a lethal military operation in the Gaza Strip.
Israel has relentlessly attacked Gaza since the Palestinian militant group Hamas launched a cross-border assault on Oct. 7, leaving at least 28,340 Palestinians dead and 67,984 others injured. It is estimated that nearly 1,200 Israelis have been killed in the Hamas attack.
