Iran grieves': Raisi's funeral to take place on May 21

Iran prepares for President Raisi’s funeral in Tehran on May 21 after the helicopter crash

The funeral for Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and those who lost their lives in the helicopter crash will take place in Tehran on May 21, Tuesday.

President Raisi and Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian were among those on board the helicopter that crashed into a mountainous region on May 20.

Search and rescue teams arrived at the wreckage, confirming the loss of life for Raisi and others. Following Raisi’s death, Iran has declared a 5-day mourning period and condolences have poured in from many countries around the world.

Details of funeral ceremony revealed

The bodies of Raisi and the others are being brought to Tabriz. The bodies will first be taken to forensic medicine, and then a ceremony will be held. The funeral ceremonies will take place in Tehran on May 21.

Iranian former president, and conservative politician, Raisi died at the age of 64.
