Iran’s disinformation hub Press TV launches Turkish edition

Peyman Jebelli, General Director of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB), has announced the launch of a Turkish-language service on Press TV.
The move comes after Türkiye‘s state broadcaster TRT began Persian-language broadcasts, a development that sparked criticism in Iran.
Iranian state-owned media had argued that TRT’s initiative reflected Türkiye’s intent to interfere in Iran’s domestic affairs.
The launch of the channel’s Turkish edition is widely seen as Iran‘s countermeasure to TRT Farsi. It is thought that the channel will be active in online broadcasting.
As Türkiye’s TRT broadcasts in multiple languages including Arabic, German, Spanish, French, Russian, Swahili and Balkan languages, with the addition of Turkish language, Press TV only broadcasts in English, French and Turkish.

Press TV, a state-owned media organization under the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB), broadcasts in English and French.
Based in Tehran, the 24-hour channel began operations on July 8, 2007, with the aim of challenging Western English-language news outlets. The network has faced criticism for being a platform for government propaganda.
