Türkiye-based Kalyon PV has left its mark on the U.S. space industry by producing solar cells for satellites.

The company, a subsidiary of Kalyon Holding, operates a state-of-the-art solar panel manufacturing facility established with $350 million in domestic investment.

Speaking at the Kalyon PV Solar Technologies Manufacturing Center, CEO Ihsan Kulali revealed that the company produces custom solar panel cells designed for use in the U.S. space sector and satellites.

“We will continue to focus on high-value-added products in the coming years,” Kulali said.

Kalyon PV’s integrated facility manufactures solar panels with up to 90% local materials and a production capacity of 2,000 megawatts annually.

Advancing Türkiye’s renewable energy sector

Established in 2020, Kalyon PV has prioritized research and innovation, investing $40 million in its research and development center, which employs over 100 researchers. Kulali emphasized that renewable energy solutions are key to addressing global energy and climate challenges.

The company supplies panels for Europe’s largest solar plant, the Konya Karapinar Solar Power Plant, and plans to construct a 157-megawatt solar plant in Viransehir by March 2024 to meet its own energy needs.

Expanding global reach

Kalyon PV exported 25 megawatts of solar panels to the U.S. in 2022 and aims to expand its market share in the U.S. and Europe.

“We are capable of producing customized panels, cells, and wafers to meet the specific needs of customers,” Kulali stated.
