No DEM Party request for 2nd meeting with PKK ringleader Ocalan yet: Justice Minister
Minister of Justice Yilmaz Tunc stated that no official request has been filed by the Peoples’ Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) requesting a second meeting with imprisoned PKK founder and leader Abdullah Ocalan on Wednesday.
Tunc commented, “If a request is made, as the Ministry of Justice, we will of course evaluate it.”
No request has yet been made regarding the second meeting. If a request is made, as the Ministry of Justice, we will of course evaluate it. There is a great effort for a terror-free Türkiye. There is a great effort to completely abolish the PKK terrorist organization, which has been threatening the peace and security of our country and nation for 40 years, to strengthen the domestic front, to strengthen our national unity and brotherhood, and to make Türkiye stronger in the Turkish Century. We support this effort together. In this sense, if there is a request for a new meeting, we will evaluate it.

A ranking DEM Party delegation visited Ocalan on the Imranli Island prison on Dec. 28. A second meeting has since then been expected as the DEM Party continued making closed-door meetings with all significant political actors in Türkiye.
