Slovenia considers recognizing Palestine following Spain, Ireland, and Norway
Slovenian Prime Minister Robert Golob declared that the Slovenian government will contemplate a proposal to formally acknowledge the State of Palestine this week.
Following today’s announcement by Spain, Ireland, and Norway to officially recognize the State of Palestine, Slovenia has taken a similar step.
“In the meantime, we will continue to coordinate with a group of like-minded countries to exert pressure for an immediate ceasefire and the release of hostages,” Golob stated, further noting that the proposal to officially recognize Palestine will be deliberated at a government meeting on Thursday.
“As a responsible member of the United Nations, we must do everything within our power to achieve enduring peace in the Middle East,” Golob added.
