Minister Bak congratulates national athletes: Paris 2024 Olympics
Minister of Youth and Sports, Dr. Osman Askin Bak, extended congratulations to national judoka Fidan Ogel and national fencer Nisanur Erbil for securing spots in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
Minister Bak expressed delight at their achievements in two distinct disciplines and conveyed his best wishes for their success in representing Türkiye on the global stage.
In his message, Minister Bak specifically commended Fidan Ogel for earning her place in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games based on the Olympic world rankings by the International Judo Federation.
He also lauded Nisanur Erbil for securing a quota in the women’s fencing category through an invitation from the Universal Quota Commission of the International Fencing Federation.
Nisanur will be the first female athlete to represent Türkiye at the Olympics in the fencing discipline.
Minister Bak expressed gratitude to all who contributed to the success of the athletes.
Additionally, national fencer Enver Yildirim, who secured an Olympic quota for Türkiye in the fencing category after 52 years, expressed his ambition to clinch the gold medal at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
Quota after 52 years
The national fencer succeeded in winning Türkiye a quota in this discipline 52 years after the Munich Olympic Games in 1972.
The 29-year-old athlete, having achieved first place in the fencing category at the European Championships in Luxembourg, reflected on his journey in the sport, crediting his family and coaches for their support.
Enver Yildirim shared his determination to represent Türkiye with excellence in Paris and voiced confidence in his ability to contend for the gold medal.
Despite it being his first Olympic appearance, Yildirim expressed assurance in delivering his best performance and harbored aspirations for future Olympic success, setting his sights on the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics as well.
