1.8M pills seized, 3 arrested in Istanbul drug bust
In a sweeping operation dubbed “Narkokapan-6,” Turkish authorities seized 1.8 million illegal pills and arrested three individuals suspected of drug manufacturing in Istanbul, according to an announcement from Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya.
Yerlikaya stated on social media that Türkiye’s fight against drugs is not just a security issue but also a matter of safeguarding future generations.
“The fight against drugs, which is a global disaster, is not only a security issue, it is also the issue of our future,” Minister Yerlikaya stated in his social media post on X.
“We are on every street, every avenue, every corner! We do not allow the drug dealers to open their eyes. We do not and will not allow them to darken the future of our children,” he added.
Massive drug seizure in Istanbul’s Kucukcekmece, Esenyurt districts
The operation carried out under the coordination of the Kucukcekmece Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office, the General Directorate of Security and the Narcotics Crime Division, targeted locations in Istanbul‘s Kucukcekmece and Esenyurt districts.
Authorities confiscated:
- 1.8 million illegal pills
- Five pill-pressing machines
- Two vacuum sealers
- A precision scale
