New documents related to the Jeffrey Epstein case in the United States reveal prosecutors were aware of the billionaire businessman’s sexual abuse of underage girls in 2008.

According to the court records from Epstein’s prostitution case in Florida, which consists of approximately 150 pages, federal prosecutors who made a deal with Epstein were aware of his sexual abuse of young girls two years before the agreement.

The investigation against Epstein began in March 2005 based on an informant’s report that a woman’s “teenage stepdaughter received $300 in exchange for sexual encounters.”

The records also include the testimony of a young girl who visited Epstein’s home multiple times and confirmed that he had sexually abused her. Judge Luis Delgado, in his ruling, described the details in the records as “shocking for conscientious people” and highlighted why Epstein is considered the “most notorious pedophile in U.S. history.”

‘State supported him when they could have put him in prison’

“The number of victims that Epstein abused is very sad because the state supported him when it could have put him in prison,” said Brad Edwards, the lawyer for some of the victims in the case, in his written statement.

U.S. billionaire Epstein reached a deal with the prosecutors to serve a state sentence, which was less severe than federal ones, in the prostitution case he faced in Florida in 2008.

The agreement permitted Epstein to visit his workplace in Palm Beach during his 1.5-year prison sentence.

Epstein would serve a year under house arrest following his prison sentence.

After the agreement, the victims’ lawyers criticized Florida prosecutors.

Jeffrey Epstein’s scandal

On August 10, 2019, authorities discovered Jeffrey Epstein, accused of sexually abusing dozens of girls under the age of 18, the youngest of whom was 14, and creating a prostitution network, dead in his cell at New York’s Manhattan Metropolitan Central Prison.

Authorities announced the cause of Epstein’s death as suicide, but family members denied it and expressed their suspicions.

In the trial, Epstein’s girlfriend, Ghislaine Maxwell, was convicted for allegedly helping Epstein’s illegal activities in the organization of luring underage girls into prostitution for some rich, famous people and government officials.

Early January saw the publication of the Esptein case files, which once again elevated this issue to the top of the agenda.

The judge’s decision published a total of more than 4,500 documents in four parts, revealing the relationship between Epstein and many well-known figures.

The disclosed case files include Prince Andrew, former US presidents Bill Clinton and Donald Trump, former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak, former U.S. Vice President Al Gore, actor Kevin Spacey, singer Michael Jackson, illusionist David Copperfield, lawyer Alan Dershowitz, and former Governor of New Mexico.

Famous names, such as Bill Richardson, took part.

The files contained the names of Clinton and Trump, but they contained no accusations against the former presidents.
