Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas has responded to President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s call for an apology. Palestinian Ambassador to Ankara Faed Mustafa announced that Abbas will soon make an official visit to Türkiye and speak at Parliament.

On Saturday, during a speech in Rize, Erdogan stated that Abbas had not responded to Türkiye’s invitation to visit and therefore “should apologize.”

Responding to Erdogan’s remarks, Mustafa said, “President Mahmoud Abbas is expected to make an official visit to Türkiye soon. During this visit, he will meet with President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.”

According to a report by Palestine’s official news agency Wafa, Mustafa stated, “Negotiations are ongoing through diplomatic channels and appropriate protocols to determine the timing of the visit.”

Additionally, he announced that President Abbas had received an invitation from the speaker of the Turkish Parliament to speak at the Turkish legislative body. It was indicated that Abbas would soon address the Turkish Parliament.

Ambassador Mustafa emphasized the strong fraternal relations between the two countries and their peoples, expressing great appreciation for Türkiye’s steadfast support for the rights of the Palestinian people.
