Iran has transmitted its response to the latest U.S. proposal to end the war to Pakistani mediators, Iran's official IRNA news agency reported Sunday, without providing details of the content.

"The Islamic Republic of Iran sent today through Pakistani mediators its response to the latest text proposed by the United States to end the war," IRNA reported.

The agency noted that Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesperson had previously stated on multiple occasions that Tehran's views and considerations on the U.S. proposals would be transmitted after a final review and summary was completed.

According to the proposed framework, negotiations at this stage will focus on ending the war in the region.

"We will never bow our heads before the enemy, and if talk of dialogue or negotiation arises, it does not mean surrender or retreat. Rather, the goal is to uphold the rights of the Iranian nation and to defend national interests with resolute strength," the Iranian President, Masoud Pezeshkian, stated on X after reports of Tehran's submission of its response to the U.S.

The response comes after weeks of Iranian review of a U.S.-authored proposal that Secretary of State Marco Rubio said on Friday he expected to receive "today," adding that he hoped it would be "a serious offer" capable of putting the two sides "into a serious process of negotiation."

Pakistan's Foreign Ministry had said earlier in the week that it expected a deal "soon" and that an Iranian response could come through Islamabad as early as Friday.

Regional tensions have escalated sharply since the U.S. and Israel launched strikes against Iran on Feb. 28, triggering Iranian retaliation and the closure of the Strait of Hormuz.

The ceasefire brokered by Pakistan on April 8 has held in fragile form, with multiple exchange-of-fire incidents since, including engagement involving three U.S. Navy destroyers and Iranian forces, while Trump extended the truce without a set deadline to allow space for diplomacy.
